San Lorenzo Little League: A Community Tradition Rooted in Teamwork and Sportsmanship

Established in 1958, San Lorenzo Little League has become a cornerstone of youth baseball in the San Lorenzo, San Leandro, and Ashland communities. Operating as a proud, 100% volunteer-run and -operated organization, this Little League® baseball league has nurtured countless young athletes, instilling essential values such as teamwork, sportsmanship, perseverance, and a love for the game of baseball.

At the heart of San Lorenzo Village lies a remarkable facility: a league-managed, five-field complex where future stars practice, play, and grow together. This welcoming environment not only fosters athletic skills but also promotes personal development among little leaguers aged 3 years and up. Each spring, San Lorenzo Little League opens its doors to an enthusiastic wave of new and returning players, with registration numbers steadily rising to over 330 children eager to participate in the season. The sense of community and camaraderie is palpable, as families come together to support their local teams.

In addition to the vibrant spring season, San Lorenzo Little League offers a Fall Ball program, inviting youth aged 3 and older from across the East Bay. This extension of the Little League experience has proven to be successful, with registration numbers for the fall season excitingly matching those of the spring. This huge growth demonstrates the increasing interest in youth baseball and the commitment of families to provide their children with opportunities for physical activity and personal growth.

However, the passage of time and heavy use have taken their toll on the facility, and San Lorenzo Little League is in need of upgrades and maintenance to keep the playing and viewing experience at an optimal level. The organization understands that a well-maintained facility is essential for the enjoyment of the players and the spectators who come out to support them. This is why we are seeking donations to the league. Contributions from community members and local businesses will enable the league to invest in necessary repairs and improvements, ensuring that our fields and facilities remain safe, inviting, and conducive to the development of young athletes.

While striving to enhance the infrastructure, the League Board of Directors are also committed to balancing the rising costs of supplies, equipment, and maintenance with the need to keep player registration fees low. This ensures that Little League baseball remains accessible to families in the surrounding communities just as it has been for the last 66 years. Our dedicated volunteers work tirelessly to secure donations and support that will help maintain the league's quality for current and future generations.
